#LegoAmericana at the Staten Island Mall

Last month, The Staten Island Mall hosted an exhibition of landmarks made entirely of LEGO®. Since John was feeling well enough for me to drive him around on some errands, I asked him if he'd like to stop on the way home. Of course, both the history buff and the little kid in him wanted to go.

I did not look into the exhibit ahead of time. I had seen the Lego Statue of Liberty out of the corner of my eye on the news, all pretty much on the heels of the news that the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square that was home to a Lego Statue of Liberty was to close. I thought it was a tour of anything Lego from that store. Of course, I was completely wrong.

Set up in strategic points around the mall were reproductions of the following US landmarks:

• Capitol Building 
• White House 
• Supreme Court
• Jefferson Memorial 
• Washington Monument
• Statue of Liberty
• Old North Church
• Lincoln Memorial
• Independence Hall
• Liberty Bell

I'm not quite sure how we missed seeing the Washington Monument, as it was right by the Supreme Court building according to the map with which we were provided . John did not see it either, but we're talking about someone who just had eye surgery.
